LUCKNOW: State BJP chief Vinay Katiyar, who is better known for his proximity to the RSS, appears to be busy preparing the ground for two things — Kalyan Singh’s re-entry into the Sangh Parivar and re-creating the atmosphere of 1991.
Katiyar said: ‘‘You cannot play down Kalyan’s contributions to the BJP. He saw to it that the party took roots in villages.
Before his era the BJP, or for that matter the then Jan Sangh, existed only in some urban centres in the state. I shall be extremely happy if he gets back to the party-fold.’’
The BJP chief added: ‘‘It’s time we recreate the atmosphere of 1991. Thanks to the excavations in Ayodhya, we may not need to prove our point any longer that a temple existed there. All that we stood for is possibly going to be established. The excavators have already found remnants of idols and many other things. We shall now write to all MPs cutting across party lines to help us create the atmosphere for construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.’’
Katiyar is planning a yatra from Garh-Mukteshwar to mobilise mass support for a fresh temple agitation. His yatra will also highlight Deen Dayal Upadhyay’s integral humanism and Ambedkar’s cultural nationalism.
